The Email That Can Ruin a School Year

You know that feeling when you get a “quick update” email from the school and your stomach drops before you even open it? Yeah. That’s August.

Last year’s IEP? Probably sitting in a binder somewhere next to the teacher’s “classroom goals” poster untouched, ignored, collecting metaphorical dust while your kid gets tossed back into the same mess as last spring. If we don’t lock it in this month, it’s going to be a year of “Oops, we forgot” and “Let’s circle back.” And by “circle back,” they mean never.

I’ve reviewed hundreds of IEPs and 504s, and I can tell you this: the first month is when you make sure everyone knows what’s in that plan and that you’re the parent who will notice if they drop the ball.

That’s why I created my IEP/504 Review Session.

In one hour,

I’ll pull apart last year’s plan,

show you exactly what’s worth keeping,

and make sure this year’s teachers know your kid’s accommodations and that you’re the parent they don’t want to mess with.
